The Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee (SEAMEC) needs YOU!
Your involvement has been and will continue to be at the core of SEAMEC’s success of reviewing candidates for public office on their connection with and understanding of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning Community – now in our 40th year of doing this important work.

This year, Seattle will elect a new mayor, along with members of the City and County Council, members of area school boards, local judges, and several, off-year, key state legislative races. The last day of candidate filing was May 19th, with the August 1st Primary just around the corner. We will begin to conduct candidate interviews in just a matter of weeks.

Your passion for the democratic system, your interest in questioning candidates on their stands on issues important to our community is needed, whether this is your first SEAMEC volunteer opportunity or if you or your family landed with the Denny Party at Elliot Bay.

We have included a survey of open dates and times to schedule candidate interviews and hope you can join us for one or two dates (mid-June – early July) for this important work. Times and dates are listed in the survey and are divided into three-hour time blocks, from 1-4 pm for those available for daytime hours, with 6-9 pm allotted for evening volunteers.

To complete a quick volunteer survey, please visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QTBW96Z

Each interview is expected to last 45 minutes, with 15 minutes for a panel discussion by reviewers and scoring. Please let us know in the comments section if you can only volunteer for a portion of a specific time block. We will be happy to have your help in any circumstance.
